…and not enough done yet – so before I knuckle down and put this site into temporary hibernation, here are a few notices:
1. You’ll be glad to hear that Shaykh B. Bayyah and his son have recovered from their accident and are resting at home in Jeddah wal-hamdulillah, as confirmed by his son Cheikhna yesterday on the phone – he sounded pretty jolly to be honest; they’re a strong lot these Shanaqitah masha’Allah!
2. My old haunt in East London desperately requires your help. Al-Ansar has only a few days to raise £200,000 to buy out their Masjid and bookshop and are looking either for donations or at the very least 200 people to give them £1000 as sadaqah or as a temporary loan to be paid back over the next 5-10 years and they need it by this Wednesday!
I don’t think this is beyond the capacities of the local Muslims in East London and many others in the UK so please try and help them as much as you can in this time of increased blessing and reward – if you have the money spare, this is a really sound investment insha’Allah.
3. The HHUGS team have a new account up and running for those who wish to continue supporting the needy:
Account name: HHUGS
Bank: Lloyds TSB
Account number: 00418137
Sort code: 30-94-77
4. Someone has asked me to remind everyone after the Northern Rock fiasco that only £2000 of your money is guaranteed in such current accounts and then the next £33000 odd is only 90% guaranteed in case of problems, which let’s be honest, are increasing in prevalence every year it seems. This is despite what the government might claim about it’s 100% guarantees etc. So, the lesson is, if you’ve got more than £2000 in your account, pass over the rest to me…
5. Those who have emailed: honestly, I’m getting through them and I’ll have answered all outstanding questions by tomorrow evening insha’Allah barakallahu feekum. I appreciate your patience and continue to seek your forgiveness for my deficiencies.
6. I almost forgot: I apologise for my anger in the khutbah after having to be interrupted only 3 minutes into it, against the person who parked their car and blocked in a disabled mother neighbour of the Masjid who wanted to leave her house. Next time, I’m going to find out who that person was and name and shame.
As for the kids laughing, joking and smoking (!) I told today in Tarawih that *censored*…
Also, I applaud the stance adopted by the best reciter in Manchester, Imam Abu Umar of Didsbury Masjid, who refused to lead Tarawih prayers tonight because of the repeated ignorance and stubborness of those who continue to block the drives of the neighbours of the Masjid. I understand that the next step is that there will be no Tarawih prayer held at the Masjid if this ridiculous situation from the Muslim community – Didsbury has already been threatened with court action for the actions of its Musalleen and enough is enough.
How on earth the one single community of people in this world with the greatest moral and civic duty of treating the neighbours and the people in general in the best way possible, have become infamous for being the worst and most irresponsible is just beyond me. Wallahi, it is beyond me.
Anyway, that’s my moan for this month. There are far too many things that one can pick up on that freaks you out when you see the Muslims together but life is just far too short.
Have a great Ramadhan insha’Allah. One more post to come and then we’re out…

No wonder we are an unhealthy ummah. We cant even be bothered to park sensibly and walk the extra distance. It is disgusting. I propose the masjid should hire wheel clampers for the neighbours to use. And put signs up everywhere.
Why would they EVER want to do us a favour when WE cant even let them have access to their houses.More importantly why would they ever want to look into the deen when we are so discourteous.

Tip of the month: Lose your gym membership (run around your park, pick up obese kids instead of weights, lose the pakoray and ladoo) and sponser a child with the saved money . . .

Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 34:
Narrated Sahl bin Sa’d:
The Prophet said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together.

Car parking @ Masjids: Is suitabley ridiculous wherever you go in the country… I just don’t get why people bother going to pray when they have clearly no thought given to others. Blocking doorways with their car, like they need to make a quick exit, but oh, they can’t because some other person has parked them in, and then what do you know there is an entourage of I’ll run out early and make my escape, only when the ones that leave after 8-10 raka’ah go out, their block in by the late comers, so reluctantly have to come inside and DISTURB the salaah of EVERYONE whilst announcements are repeatedly made for that person to move their car… but then they’re quite clearly too embarrassed to admit its their car and they leave it a while longer…
As for kids, what is it with children today? They are clearly OBESE yet they come in smelling of samosas and other fried “delicacies…” if that is the right word to use… and then sure enuff half way thru you’ll see the bags of bebetos and other halal jellies being passed around them…
May Allaah remove our greed, ignorance and lack of adab during this month and beyond inshaAllah.
hmph…

soulscripture you sound like me when I was pregnant. I had sever sickness then to get stuch between 2 women in a loooong taraweeh who smell of curry…
Oh and then you can’t get to the loo to throw up coz of people insisting on keeping to the right hand side of the masjid to such an extreme they block the doorway….
As for obesity sometimes there is more to the situation than you may think. Sometimes is genetic other times not. Also nowadays many mothers are married but practically single left to bring up the children almost on their own. When you have many fussy eaters – why not just give em some somosa’s eh? At least they are eating.
My point is – we shouldn’t be so quick to make judgments or remarks.
September 22, 2007 at 12:06 pm
JazakhumAllahu khair for your nasiha… im actually not quick to judge, that remark was based on those that I know. With regards to fussy eaters, if you constantly provide a child with unhealthy fatty food, which are HIGHLY addictive and the number two cause for obesity (number one being severe lack of exercise)…what favours are you doing your child? Yes there are many “excuses” that can be made for the people that are effectively trying to give their children a heart attack or childhood onset diabetes! but the fact of the matter is, the body is an amanah, and we should take care of both our own and our childrens…
Only this week a teenager in my town passed away due to a heart attack. He was severely overweight… You see it’s not as simple as single mother syndromes, because i know many mashaAllah single mothers who give time to their children and always make sure they are given a healthy balanced diet. It’s just sheer laziness and ignorance.
On the note of masjids, subhanAllah, I got it again yesterday, one brother decided to park his car where it says DON’T PARK! Right outside the Sisters Enterance. I mean he may aswell have taken it into the masjid it was that close! So noone could get out without sliding over his bonnet. What possesses people to do that! I’m not making NO excuses for him, because there were around 12 other places (minimum) he could have parked only metres away.

madina masjids the best; don’t seem to be any problems there alhamdu lillah.

Soulscripture do you have children? No it isn’t just sheer lazyness and ignorance. There are MANY other factors involved.
